Magic! That's the only way to explain this. So I bought the Nintendo system and this came with it. Both games were a total thrill! Oh my god. The music and the graphics totally blew the Atari 2600 (still sitting there beside it!) right out of the water. I was just floored how massively upscaled these games were over the 2600 games. It was we time traveled to get so advanced all the sudden! A side scrolling video game! Ok, we saw this with pitfall and jungle hunt but this was clearly next level stuff! And going down pipes! Are you kidding me? Then climbing up vines up into the sky!
Duck hunt was just as amazing too! Didn't us kids laugh when the dog laughed at us. Oh my lord, what a hoot! Nintendo really dropped the ball on light gun games though. Man, they should have made loads and loads of games that used it. Only a few was such a shame and none of them anywhere near as good as duck hunt either.
One word, people. If you were not an 80's kid. You can only understand this with one word;
Magic.
A lot of people will put SMB 3 as the best SMB game for this system, mine was SMB 2 back in the day, but reflecting back now, none of them made me feel the way this one did. It was such a groundbreaking game for it's time. Today, I play this one the most by far. I can still run right through it, in minutes.
