Although tight in some spools and unable to fit into a few I have, most of my spools will accept skateboard/rollerblade bearing spacers which fit over 1/4"-20 threads well. Against nylon spacers on my thread carriage, these have helped to smooth the tensioning. The box is my rod wrappers "backpack" which contains wrapping tools, extra T-nuts, rod stand fasteners...
