There are a few issues here! Firstly the stainless steel runner that the window sits in was only held in place by some tiny self tapping screws (yes, into fibreglass). Secondly the only weatherproofing there was a thin bead of putty of some sort, which had mostly dried up a few decades ago. I've now added a thick foam rubber seal in there and replaced the self tappers with M5 nuts and bolts. Yes, getting the nuts onto the bolts was a gigantic pain in the tail due to poor access.
