Weather determines individual heatwaves and droughts; climate determines the conditions in which they occur.
The warmer baseline makes many heatwaves more intense, increases heavy rainfall potential, raises evaporative demand during droughts, and amplifies coastal flooding through sea-level rise. The existence of historical extremes doesn’t refute that.
