The hub of this illustration is Capitoline , one of the traditional seven hills of Rome that was especially built up during the era of the Etruscan kings ( sixth century b.c. ), when the great temple was built and dedicated to the Capitoline Triad : Jupiter, Juno, and Minerva . Despite considerable progress by archaeologists during that time , Carlu's work appears to have been inspired mainly by imaginary and chance criteria - although he did use some elements of fact - instead of genuine historical and archaeological data . He took advantage of color and chiaroscuro effects , although this forced him to settle for tangled inexactness . For example , the great Capitoline temple , with its cella arbitrarily reconstructed in a Greek way with internal columns and a nonexistent little temple ( lower left ) , seems as out of place as its Athenian twin would , the Temple of Athena Nike . The lively pavements , which do not have any archaeological verification , confirm the picturesque tendencies of this pensionnaire.
