The students of Grade III, were taken on an educational trip to the National Craft Museum located near the Pragati Maidan on 6th May 2025. The Craft Museum is one such place which preserves and showcases the magnificent collection of India’s rural and tribal handicrafts. This educational trip provided a deep dive into India's rich handicraft traditions and regional textiles. The Museum has a large area with outdoor village area and indoor galleries. There are dedicated sections on paintings, textiles, sculptures and carvings. The indoor galleries are housed in a large single-storeyed building, which includes galleries on Folk Art, Cultic Objects, Textiles, and so on. This small but beautiful gallery in the museum has got the exquisite collection of hand-woven textiles which includes different types of silk, Kashmiri Pashmina, Orissa’s Ikat fabric, Chikankari works, Bandhani works, block printed textiles fabrics of Gujarat and Maharashtra, Naga Shawls and many more. A little further on from the indoor galleries, looms stand where weavers do their work, and beyond, there is a bazaar area where artisans from across India sell handicrafts. It was a great learning experience for the students which included pottery sessions and witnessing folk dance performance by regional artists and, gave them a taste of history introducing them to the rich heritage that we Indians possess. The success of the school picnic would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of respected Principal Madam Ms. Shalini Agarwal, primary coordinator Ms. Shweta Dimri Madam, Ms. Amritanjali Ganju Madam and fellow teachers. Their hard work and commitment ensured that the day was not only enjoyable but also safe and well-coordinated.
