MHF-G7より実装された種のランクで、武具の系列としては烈種の上に位置付けられている存在。
設定では、現存するモンスターの祖先と考えられている種であるとのこと。
始まりの種として、自然と調和し、共存しながら生存しているモンスターであり、自然と同化した容姿自然を活かした攻撃が特徴とされている。
デザイン面においても自然と調和した種族であることが直感的に判るよう、風化したような体色や苔むした部位、フィールドに調和した体色となっており、一部の始種には溶岩や樹木など自然物由来のものが付着している。

Their design reflects this harmony with nature, featuring weathered colors, moss-covered parts, and hues that blend with their environment. Some Origin Species even have natural elements like lava or foliage adhered to them.
