Apply the diluted dope carefully with a soft brush. Hold the part at a 45° angle and hold the brush with the bristles pointing slightly upward. Dipping the brush in the dope is called "loading" the brush. Don't overload the brush and slop it on. After applying the dope, go back over it with an unloaded brush to wick away any excess dope. Excess dope will collect in puddles. When it dries, you end up with blobs of dope all over the tissue. It's ugly. So, use an unloaded brush to remove excess dope. Unload a brush by wiping it on a paper towel. Excess dope shows up as white. If theres visible white liquid, it needs to be removed. Some builders wick excess dope off the tissue with paper towels. As you can see from the picture, there's no excess dope on the wing. Be gentle at all times because wet tissue is some fragile stuff. Only do one side of the parts at a time and be sure there isn't any dope that will come in contact with the surface on which the part is placed on to dry, or it will glue the part to the surface.
