Douglas TBD Devastator, aka "Tor-pecker," from USS Yorktown, Midway. Seven of my dad's flight school classmates were killed flying TBD's at Midway. Lacking fighter opposition during the Battle of the Coral Sea, Devastators dropped 22 torpedoes for seven hits on two ships, including five on the brand-new Shoho. Until Midway, none had been lost in combat. Scratch-built from plans.
