The old PCV valves which came with my engine were to put it mildly, stuffed. Probably wasn't unrelated to the fact there were moisture issues with the engine anyway, I'm guessing a lot of short runs and/or idling were involved in its past.
While the lower valve could be rebuilt, the body is fine. The reed valve itself is holed, but there's no reason that cannot be changed, just needs the rivets drilled out to remove it. The top one is scrap though as the housing is totally rotten.
Not sure if these being changed will have any effect on the engine in the real world, but it will be nice to know the system is working as the designer intended.
