Guillow's B-17 built as an E that my dad flew on a patrol mission out of Fiji, 2-12-43 just for kicks. "Easy to fly, noisy as hell." My first model done with an airbrush, first try at weathering, and first making my own vacuum-formed parts. The plane had been previously used by the 28th BS, 19th BG, 5th USAAF. It had been flown on about 150 combat missions, damaged once by AA. The 28th lost 22% KIA and almost 40% of its planes. This plane was declared un-airworthy on return to the states in 1943 and scrapped. There's no record of it being named or having nose art. The squadron was infamous for its obscene names and nose art, like "Vulgar Virgin." Some of the nose art was painted over when Eleanor Roosevelt visited.
